FOOD NEWS: TASTE OF THE COUNTRYSIDE

We're bringing the freshest tastes of the countryside into the heart of the city with a special culinary evening organised with the beautiful Barnsley House Hotel.

The boutique hotel’s famous gardens provide the perfect inspiration for the event on Wednesday August 8 at our Second Floor Restaurant. Our Head Chef Louise McCrimmon – recently voted chef of the year in the Bristol Good Food Awards – will spend the day at Barnsley House, near Cirencester, to pick a range of fresh vegetables, fruit and herbs. She will then head back to the store with her selection of ingredients and create a delicious menu that perfectly showcases the hotel’s gardens.

The evening is designed to appeal to both the green-fingered and foodie fans alike. As well as the three-course meal, guests will also be entertained by Richard Gatenby, Head Gardener at Barnsley House. He will talk about the showpiece grounds, developed by internationally-acclaimed designer Rosemary Verey, and future plans for the famous Temple Garden and The Spa Garden, and the conservation of the treasured Simon Verity sculptures.

Following the success of last year’s event, we are delighted to again be working so closely with Barnsley House Hotel,” explains Louise. “This evening gives diners the chance to get a real insight into the famous gardens developed by celebrated horticulturalist Rosemary Verey and hear from Richard about their future plans. Guests also get to enjoy some of the freshest seasonal produce available – literally food to fork in less than 24 hours.”

The event starts at 7.30pm and tickets cost £35 per head to include a three-course meal, coffee and petit fours, as well as the after-dinner talk.
