WHERE DO YOU GET THOSE SNEAKERS!

Harvey Nichols has teamed up with leading streetwear brand Ellesse to launch an exclusive pair of sneakers. Ellesse approached Harvey Nichols as one of only five retailers in the world to collaborate on its latest project. The luxury store was invited to check through the archives and re-work one of the classic trainers to reflect its own individual style.

The result is an updated version of the Marathon 1984, based on the idea “Harvey Nichols is watching you” inspired by George Orwell’s seminal novel 1984. To complement the concept, buyers of the must-have shoes will also receive a free Lomography camera.

Available exclusively in Bristol, the Marathon 84 maintain their original grey and white leather and nylon colour with a splash of orange. They also feature the Ellesse logo across the side of the heel. Available in sizes 6-12, they cost £110.

FASHION FOCUS: TO THE MANOR BORN

When so many of this season’s trends seem very urban, it’s always good to spot one that takes its inspiration from the rolling hills and winding lanes of the British countryside. Chic and ever wearable, heritage makes a welcome return for A/W11. It’s all very Audrey Forbes Hamilton, with tweed, leather and chunky wool knits the fabrics of choice on everything from pleated kilts to capes and coats.

For the new season, there’s an unmistakably sexy feel to this trend, as this most nostalgic of rural looks is given a modern update and teamed with sumptuous pops of colour. Pair warm shades of cognac with a tartan mini and delicious browns with wide-legged tweed trousers for a youthful spin.

Great British brands, like Barbour, Belstaff and Mulberry are very much at the fore, giving traditional pieces a contemporary make-over. So think riding boots worn with a statement knitted poncho and wear your favourite skinny jeans with a nipped-waist jacket and must-have roll neck jumper. Finish off with an aged leather bag and you’ll be the lady of the manor in no time!

Belstaff - Foxhall waxed leather jacket   Jeffrey Campbell - Distressed leather over-the-knee boots
Belstaff wax and leather jacket, £900; Jeffrey Campbell over the knee boots, £185

Vivienne Westwood Red Label - Harris multicoloured tweed cape   Alexander McQueen - Tweed knit cardigan

IT'S THE ECO FRIENDLY AW11 MUST-HAVE!

With just 1,000 available in the UK, the new Wayne Hemingway for Coco Cola umbrella is definitely at the top of this autumn’s fashion wish-list. Available exclusively from Harvey Nichols, the limited edition accessory is made from 100% recycled plastic bottles, so will not only keep you stylishly dry but also conveys an important eco message.

Iconic drinks brand Coca-Cola has collaborated with designer Wayne Hemingway to launch the new PlantBottle™ – the company’s first 100% recyclable plastic packaging, made partially from plants. Each umbrella is created from five plastic bottles, which have been crushed and then processed back into yarn. Hemingway’s exclusive design for the brand has been inspired by Brazilian sugar-cane, which is the sustainable source of the plant-based material used in Coca Cola’s new packaging. As well as that, the colour channels one of A/W 11 key palettes of rich earthy tones and moss green.

“I was really excited to get behind this project,” explains Hemingway. “It is an example of a brand taking the right steps to help introduce more sustainable ways to operate as a business. We should all be thinking about how we can recycle the materials we all use every day. By partnering with Coca-Cola, we want to demonstrate what can happen if we put our plastic back into the recycling chain."

The new 100% recyclable 500ml bottles of Coca-Cola, Coca-Cola Zero, Diet Coke are now available from our in-store Foodmarket. By purchasing one of these drinks for £1.25, you can get your hands on the umbrella for just £10, while stocks last.
