BEAUTY & BEYOND

Lots of exciting new products have landed in Beyond Beauty this week, including the launch of the two biggest electrical beauty must-haves we’ve seen this year - the GHD Eclipse styler and the innovative “Fat Girl Slim” Lean Machine from Bliss. Here's the team's verdicts:

Ghd - Eclipse Hair Styler

GHD Eclipse styler, £195

The info: The most exciting advance in styling since the original GHD styler! Eclipse can tackle any hair texture and features ground-breaking tri-zone technology, developed by GHD's own scientists.

The science bit: Eclipse has clever heat sensors within the plate. If one of these zones detects even the smallest amount of heat loss, usually due to the hair absorbing the heat; it corrects itself, maintaining a constant heat of 185 degrees. It's at this temperature that hair is most malleable, meaning you get the style without the damage.

We think: After testing the Eclipse on as many hair types as we could find in our Bristol store, we love it! It tackled every hair type we threw at it, leaving everyone with smooth, shiny locks. Louise was very impressed at how fast the Eclipse managed to straighten her hair compared with the original GHD style and I was surprised to see the same great styling results from an iron with less heat, but it really does deliver!

Bliss - Fat Girl Lean Machine

Bliss Fat girl Slim Lean Machine, £120

The info: Finally, a spa-powered machine for home use to help firm and tone problem areas and reduce the appearance of cellulite. All without the salon price tag!

The science bit: The Lean machine combines a 'high'-tech vacuum massager alongside a clinically proven skin-firming cream to help smooth and tone the skin to reduce the appearance of cellulite.

We think: When this came into store, I had to try it out. Very sceptical that this tiny machine would actually be powerful enough to see real results, my doubts were soon put to rest. After applying the Fat Girl Slim Cream to the back of my legs I turned the machine on to the lowest setting and slowly glided it over my skin. To my surprise I could really see and feel the skin being deeply massaged and the skin was turning slightly pink – a good indicator that my circulation was ramped up, flushing away those toxins that cause cellulite. After a few minutes I could see the smoothness and texture of the skin was already improved, and with continued use I have high hopes that this will deliver the results I want.

Beauty must-have: Our favourite addition to the fragrance department this week is Gucci Guilty Black. Just gorgeous!
